Our Future Fleet

Building Ships

We are currently building our flagship Ceiba which will be launched in 2025. We have the wood ready for the second ship of the same design, which will be built after Ceiba is launched.

Operating Fleets

We can now support two ships, Ceiba and Vega, simultaneously. Our largest cargo client, Café William, has already filled Vega and Ceiba to capacity for all northbound voyages.

Managing Logistics

Vega will start shipping cargo between Colombia and New Jersey in 2023. This route can be completed up to eight times a year, equalling 640 tons of coffee per year for Vega alone.

Traditional Sailing Ships

Pitaya will be the second vessel built at our shipyard and will follow the same design as Ceiba. Utilizing the existing infrastructure and machinery, Pitaya will benefit from our expanded mastery of tropical wooden shipbuilding.

The wood has been purchased and is being prepared at our shipyard in Costa Rica. Hydrogen fuel cells are a viable option, replacing the batteries used in Ceiba’s electrical propulsion system.

The market demand for zero emission shipping is greater than the capacity of these ships and will continue to grow.

Further Acquisitions

The acquisition of Vega opened the opportunity for Sailcargo Inc. to rethink objectives that were easy to achieve in the short term, such as increasing the fleet and diversifying cargo routes.

Plans for purchasing similar ships are in place, with our cargo clients able and eager to fill as much space as possible. The market is rich with vessels appropriate for cargo transportation.

We will continue to purchase more ships as the popularity of our movement grows, adapting them to the functionality of maritime cargo, as was done with Vega

Container Ships

Since 2021, Sailcargo Inc. has begun planning for the incorporation of container ships powered by 100% clean energy, including green hydrogen fuel cells.

We recognize that our current fleet of cargo sailing ships is aimed at a small piece of the shipping sector; however, our ultimate goal is to compete with large cargo ships and to promote a new zero emission product.

Our research has concluded that there is a preference for the EcoLiner-type ship as a potential line within the Sailcargo Inc. fleet. With a containerized line of ships, new routes, cargo types, and services will meet the demand for the growing zero emission transportation market.

“It’s easy to see why wind is becoming an increasingly attractive option for shipowners given its positive financial and decarbonization potential and the fact that this technology basket delivers on compliance issues, today.”
