A Different Life

Two years ago Davys and his wife decided to leave the busy capital of Costa Rica to move to this little village, Punta Morales. Here Davys did not only find tranquility and a beautiful place to raise their son, but also employment at the shipyard and a new found passion for sustainability and wooden shipbuilding.

Two years ago my wife and I decided to leave San José and come to live in Punta Morales because we wanted something different for ourselves and our son, and believe me, it was the best decision we could have made.

I had the opportunity to work at the Shipyard on the construction of Ceiba and the experience has been incredible from the first moment I realized that this project is more than the construction of a cargo ship, it is a sailboat that not only moves thanks to the wind but will also have a carbon-free engine. I feel that Ceiba's economic and social contribution will be a great help and example for many people. Working and being part of something in order to take care of the planet is rewarding. It is one more reason to strive for and give the best of ourselves in our work.

Many have benefited thanks to Ceiba. The project has served a great purpose in benefiting the families of those who work here. It has also been beneficial for all the nearby businesses thanks to the workers who are part of the project.

The creation of the education center within the shipyard has been very positive. Members of the nearby communities have been able to participate in the courses that have been taught. To name a few: boat building, blacksmithing, English classes, among others, providing learning (free of charge) and growth for all.

I think that the people who live in Punta Morales feel deep gratitude to those who make it possible for something so great and important to take place in our community. I hope to continue being part of this wonderful project, to contribute to it, and to strive for this to continue with the momentum it carries.

And let it be the beginning of many good things to come!

Thanks to our investors we can bring more job opportunities to this rural area. If you want to support our mission, please consider becoming a fellow shareholder of Ceiba and request our Shareholder Pack today!
